“Rebel King” Wins Math Version of Nobel

We almost let this one slip: a hearty if belated congratulations to Cornell professor Jon  Kleinberg for winning the 2006 Rolf Nevanlinna Prize, often considered the Nobel Prize of Computer Science.

His work on "authorities" and "hubs" on the Internet--and its influence on Web search technologies--is near and dear to our hearts here at Ask.com. We also like to see a brilliant contemporary get his due.

And not just brilliant, but likable: his students nicknamed him "Rebel King" as an affectionate anagram for "Kleinberg." Jon, kudos from all of us.
